Science and Technology
The total number of patent authorizations of Datong in 2023 reached 1,205 itens, among which there are 209 items of invention patents. The total number of valid invention patents reached 1,392 items in the city.
Datong cumulatively possesses 23,583 valid registered trademarks.
There are 8 provincial-level or above key laboratories, 5 provincial-level new-type research and development institutions and 2 provincial-level pilot bases in the city.
There are 6 provincial-level science and technology enterprise incubators. One national mass maker space, 14 provincial-level maker spaces and 127 high-tech enterprises in the city. There are 74 inspection and testing institutions in the city.
There are 8 meteorological stations (posts) in the city and 8 satellite cloud image receiving stations in the city.
There are 8 stations providing ‘121’ automatic weather broadcasting service. There are 8 units engaged in weather modification operations.
The cumulative beneficial area of artificial rainfall was 6,000 square kilometers, and the increased rainfall volume was 100 million cubic meters.
The annual rainfall of Datong was 377.8 millimeters with average annual temperature of 8.0 ℃, and 151 days of frost-free period.

全市普通、職業(yè)高等學(xué)校4所，中等職業(yè)教百學(xué)校33所，普通高中46所，普通初中93所普通小學(xué)256所，特殊教育學(xué)校6所，學(xué)前教育機(jī)構(gòu)534所。
Education
There are 4 regular and vocational colleges, 33 secondary vocational education schools, 46 regular senior high schools, 93 regular junior high schools, 256 regular primary schools, 6 special education schools, and 534 preschool education institutions in the city.
文化
全市共有文化藝術(shù)館11個，文藝表演團(tuán)體9個，公共圖書館11個，圖書總藏量144.4萬冊。博物館29個，檔案館12個。全市共有廣播電視臺101個,微波站12座，有線電視網(wǎng)11個。
Culture
Datong has 11 cultural and art museums, 9 performing arts groups, 11 public libraries with a total collection of 1.444 million books. There are 29 museums and 12 archives. The city also has 101 broadcasting and television stations, 12 terrestrial microwave relay stations, and 11 cable television (CATV) networks.
衛(wèi)生健康
全市共有衛(wèi)生機(jī)構(gòu)2720個，床位20017張。其中，醫(yī)院100個；（鄉(xiāng)鎮(zhèn)）衛(wèi)生院110個；社區(qū)衛(wèi)生服務(wù)中心144個；疾病預(yù)防控制中心30個；婦幼保健院2個。
截至2023年末，全市衛(wèi)生機(jī)構(gòu)共有衛(wèi)生技術(shù)人員23173人。
其中，執(zhí)業(yè)醫(yī)師和執(zhí)業(yè)助理醫(yī)師9906人；注冊護(hù)士10041人。
Public Health
There are 2,720 public health institutions in the city providing 20,017 hospital beds. Among these public health institutions, there are 100 hospitals, 110 township hospitals, 144 community health service centers, 30 disease prevention and control centers and 2 maternal and child health care hospitals.
There are 23,173 medical personnel in public health institutions of Datong as of the end of 2023.
Among these medical personnels, there are 9,906 practicing physicians and assistant practicing physicians and 10,041 registered nurses.
休育
全市共有體育館11個。
2023年承辦了第十六屆省運(yùn)會，成功舉辦了第四屆中國·大同冰雪節(jié)、第四屆大同古長城公路自行車公開賽、2023年大同搖滾馬拉松比賽等賽事。
Sports
There are 11 sports stadiums.
Datong successfully hosted the 16th Games of Shanxi Province, the 4th China (Datong) Ice and Snow Festival, the 4th Tour of Datong Great Wall Road Cycling Race and the Rock’n’roll Datong Half Marathon etc. in 2023.
